Arizona Education Association Endorses Adelita Grijalva for Congress

Tucson, Ariz. – La Gente for Grijalva announced that the Arizona Education Association (AEA) endorsed Adelita Grijalva for election to Arizona’s 7th Congressional District. AEA joins a wide array of federal, state, and local elected officials from throughout Arizona’s Seventh Congressional District that have endorsed Adelita Grijalva for Congress.

“I am incredibly grateful for the endorsement of the Arizona Education Association. To have the support from educators like Marisol Garcia, who are on the front lines every day shaping the future of our state means so much. As an education advocate and mom of three kids in public schools, I know how vital strong public schools are to the success of our communities and families.

“I served on the Tucson Unified School District Governing Board for twenty years fighting for our students, teachers, and employees, because public education is the greatest equalizer. As the granddaughter of a Bracero and the daughter of a member of Congress, I know that happened in one generation because of strong public education.

“All children deserve access to fully funded, high-quality education, no matter who they are or what their zipcode is. I’m running to ensure our public schools get the federal resources they deserve and to fight for Southern Arizona’s families and educators. I commit to bring all our communities' voices with me to Washington and that we are heard loud and clear,” said Adelita Grijalva.

"Adelita Grijalva has always been a champion for our public schools. As a longtime school board member and a proud mom to public school kids, Adelita will fight to defend federal funding for our schools and make sure every student gets the great education they deserve. She's an authentic leader from Southern Arizona and our members trust her because she leads with union values at her heart. AEA is proud to support her campaign,” said Marisol Garcia, President of the Arizona Education Association and a middle-school social studies teacher.

The Special Primary Election is scheduled for July 15, with the Special General Election scheduled for September 23. The voter registration deadline for the special primary is June 16, and early voting begins on June 18.
