Workers Unite Behind Adelita Grijalva in Major Wave of Union Endorsements

Tucson, Ariz. – In a resounding show of solidarity, four major labor unions announced their endorsement of Adelita Grijalva for Congress. Citing her platform built on workers’ rights, fair wages, and union protections, labor leaders stand with Grijalva as a fighter for Southern Arizona’s working class.

“I’m honored to have the support of these unions and the thousands of workers they represent. Our campaign is about building power from the ground up, and that starts by standing shoulder to shoulder with working people. Billionaires, corporate interests and the MAGA politicians they own are doing everything they can to exploit workers, weaken their rights, and prevent them from organizing – but today, we send a clear message – we will not back down. Together, in solidarity, we are stronger, and we’re going to fight for a future where every worker has a voice, a fair shot, and enjoys dignity and safety on the job,” said Adelita Grijalva.

United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 President Jim McLaughlin:

“The United Food and Commercial Workers Local 99 and our membership of 25,000 strong is proud to support Adelita Grijalva in her candidacy for Congress. At a time when corporate greed continues to threaten livelihoods, we need to send leaders to Washington who have the political courage to take on special interests and stand up for working families.”

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers - Javier Soto, State Political Coordinator :

IBEW local 570 is proud to endorse Adelita Grijalva for Congress as the pro-worker and pro-union candidate in this race. As a Pima County Supervisor, she has a strong track record of bringing good-paying union jobs to Southern Arizona and working with local trades unions on apprenticeship programs. Adelita has proven she stands with workers, not just with her words, but with her actions. She understands that building a clean energy future means investing in union labor with strong apprenticeship programs, and good-paying jobs right here in Arizona that would not be outsourced.”

Communications Workers of America -  Cecilia Valdez:

“Adelita Grijalva has always had workers’ backs, and that’s why CWA is proud to stand with her in this campaign. She understands the struggles working families face because she’s spent her life in public service fighting for better wages, safer workplaces, and stronger communities. In Congress, we know she’ll keep fighting for the rights of working people - not the wealthy few.”

Communications Workers of America Local 7000, President Linda Hatfield:

“Adelita Grijalva knows that unions are the backbone of the middle class. She’s shown up for workers time and again - not just in words, but through real action. CWA Local 7000 is proud to endorse a leader who listens, leads with integrity, and never forgets who she’s fighting for. We know that she’ll be a powerful voice for working people in Congress.”

Steve Nickel, International Association of Machinists & Aerospace (IAM) Workers Local 2949:

"Adelita Grijalva has always stood with working families, and we’re proud to stand with her. She understands the dignity of hard work, the importance of strong unions, and the need to bring good-paying jobs back to our communities. The Machinists Union is proud to endorse Adelita for Arizona’s Seventh Congressional District - because she doesn’t just talk about change, she builds it."

The Special Primary Election is scheduled for July 15, with the Special General Election scheduled for September 23. The voter registration deadline for the special primary is June 16, and early voting begins on June 18.
